Mayor
Joseph E. Gertge |

Born and
raised in Northeastern Colorado, served four years in the
United States Air Force and settled in Clinton, Utah in 1972
with his wife Neilene Gailey of Clearfield. He continued
employment as a civilian for the government at Hill AFB while
attending Weber State, where he graduated with a degree in
business administration in 1977. While living in Clinton from
1972 to 1982 he served on the Clinton City Planning
Commission, which he chaired just prior to leaving for a 3
year reassignment to Dayton, Ohio. Upon returning to Utah in
1985, he and his family settled in South Weber. Joe served on
the South Weber City Planning Commission for a couple of years
and was chairman just prior to resigning because of excessive
travel to the Middle East in support of his position at Hill
AFB. He was elected as City Mayor and began serving in January
2002. He has four married children, and 9 grandchildren. Three
of his married children and 6 of his grandchildren reside in
South Weber.

I was born in
Saint Louis, Missouri and grew up in Illinois near the
Mississippi River. My formal education consists of an
undergraduate degree in geology and graduate studies in
hydrogeology. I have been married for fifteen years
and am blessed with a beautiful wife and four amazing
children. Sandi and I moved our family to Utah over ten
years ago because of its family friendly culture. |

I
have lived in South Weber for most of my life. I enjoy
living in our community. When I married my wife in 1996, we
decided to make our home in South Weber. We could not think
of a better place to raise our kids. We enjoy being parents
of three beautiful girls. I work at Welcome Home Assisted
Living as the Executive Director. I am fortunate to have the
opportunity to work in a job that I enjoy. Working with the
elderly is a great experience. My wife and I have served as
City Youth Council Advisors since 1998. We love working with
the Youth of our Community. It gives us the opportunity to
serve the Community and give back for all it offers us. I
enjoy serving on the city council and participating in the
city. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and
concerns you might have regarding our city. |

Like
the sagebrush in this beautiful valley, I have been here a
long time and my roots run deep. And despite the wind and
weather, I love this place I call home. My beautiful wife
Sherry and our four children have also taken root and we
feel blessed to live among such good people for which South
Weber is known. My desire in serving is to make South Weber
an even better place to live. Through vision, community
spirit and a "can do" attitude, South Weber will rise to new
heights and continue its reputation for being a desirable
place to live. I received my Batchelor of Arts Degree in
Business Administration from
Weber
State in 1984. I have
worked for America First Credit Union for nearly 25 years. I
served a four-year term on the South Weber City Council in
the mid 90's and I am excited to continue to serve this
great community.
