The South Weber Fire Department is a voluntary organization.  The fire chief is responsible for the general supervision of the department.  During a fire, the fire chief has full authority to take all measures deem necessary, subject to law, to control and extinguish the fire and for that purpose is made a special peace officer.  He is required to report to the City Council, at least quarterly, the conditions of the fire equipment, the number of fires and their causes and the estimated loss there from, together with such information as the city council may request or as he deems appropriate.
